Warm box for batteries.

It well knows how important to avoid freezing the Li-Po batteries. It is possible to keep batteries in the pockets but it isn’t good decision especially if you have couple of kilograms. A lot of my friends have started to use warm boxes but they have some problem heating them. There are three main ways to heat the box.
  1. Warm accumulator – for example – a bottle with hot water and e.t.s.
  2. Chemical heater.
  3. Electrical heater.
For my opinion the effectiveness of heater is the same order.
I have used warm box is made from orange foam. 20 mm sheets are cut simply with sharp knife. The glue “Titan” is used around. The box is light and keeps warm rather well.
At first I used chemical heater from drugstore. Such heating method has follow lacks. Working time is limited, usually no more than one hour. The heating is maximum at beginning and minimum at end of working. After that I decided to move to electrician heating. I wanted to make simple construction without any difficult devices. The result of winter operation was successful.
The sheets of glass fiber laminate were used for frame of heater and for separator. The heater was made from nichrome wire. The wire was reeled up in to spots in the sheet. Ends of wire was attached to two screws 3 mm. Wires with “father” balancer connector is attached to the screws.
Any old battery is used to connect with balancer socket. If battery is more 2S I change connected elements after an hours of work. The resistance of wire should be around 16 Om if you use 2S battery. In this case the current will be 0.5 A. You can simply recalculate these volumes for your case. Keep care with your Li – Po and they will pay you good current and long life.
